Android Google Translate App Update

I guess a lot people don’t know about the Android Google Translate app and even more don’t need it but it is a very useful tool for learning languages and it just got even better for people who study Japanese.

This is a very cool update for the Android Google Translate app. I guess you could call it the Google Android Google Translate app but that’s a bit of a mouthful. Anyway, I gave it a quick try and I discovered two things:

  1. It understands even badly written Japanese.
  2. I have forgotten how to write even basic kanji.

Kanji should be written in a particular order but this app doesn’t seem to mind whether you follow the rules or not. Yes, I tested. That doesn’ t mean that you shouldn’t practice standard order when writing because it does help. But it does mean that it doesn’t really matter if you know how to write in Japanese. If you have a good idea and a steady hand you should be able to translate some characters fairly easily with the updated Google Android Google Translate app.

    1. You need to click on the icon that looks like a pencil and then write in the big grey box below the input area.
