About Us

The aim of this site is to provide information for English speakers living in or visiting Yokohama. At the moment it is a one-man show. I am an Irishman and have been living in Yokohama since July 2001. Before that I lived in Australia. I have also spent some time in London and Austria while visiting many other countries.

deadhippo is a literary reference and a symbol of endurance. If you can guess the reference you will probably understand the significance.

Advertising on this site.

At the moment there are four main types of advertising on this site. At the very top of most pages you will find the JBanner. This is part of a free link exchange called the Japan Banner Exchange.

At the very bottom of every page you should find the Google Adsense banner or links. These should provide targeted links related to the webpage. If you would like to have Adsense on your site click on the banner at the top of this page.

The third form of advertising you may be able to see in place of the Google Adsense or on various places through out the site. They are for the CafePress Shops. Here you can find many great products including deadhippo.com's vey own items. You can check out the deadhippo.com shop here.

You will also see Amazon.com advertising in places. deadhippo.com will try to provide links to books or other products that are related to Yokohama and Japan.

This site is hosted by Aplus.net.It is quite reasonably priced and very easy to set up your own site. Because of the available templates you can literally have your site up within minutes. You'll need to add content of course. Click on the graphic below to get more details. It is also easy to set up a forum and a blog. you can get your own email accounts and set up your own domain name. (eg. www.igottawebsite.com).
